Have you ever felt like your voice has let you down and you don’t know why? You were sounding great yesterday, but today is another story?
I’ve worked with a few singers recently who are feeling frustrated with their voice’s apparent lack of cooperation.
On one level, it makes sense; if our voice isn’t sounding like it should, there must be something wrong with the voice. However, we have to remember that singing is physical activity. There is no voice without movement. By turning our focus to the body and how it is moving (or not moving) we can eliminate so many vocal barriers.
So, the next time you experience that frustration, don’t immediately rush to blame your poor old voice. Do a few stretches, do a few star jumps and energise your body. Your voice will thank you for it!
